” This clock is good for near sited people. The numerals are large and easy to read, and the clock works well. It keeps good time, the alarm is not too loud so it does not shock you out of bed, and the controls are easy to use and out of the way of the snooze bar. However, even on the low light setting, the clock is like a night light illuminating the room. If it is on the bed stand next to you, that is a problem. I think a similar clock with red LED’s is a better choice. (This clock has green numerals.) “I bought this for my wife and haven’t played with it too much but will pass on her comments. The unit is small and easy to use. Overall pleased with only two comments.
The volume is incremental and only adjusts from the unit itself and ignores any changes made on the iPod. The problem with this is that if you want to fall asleep to some ‘gentle and soothing’ sounds/music the difference between no sound and the first step is too pronounced.
The only other item to note is that the dimmer also has steps and if you like your room very dark at night the lowest setting visible is just a bit too bright. However, you can completely turn the light off which is nice and all you have to do is hit a button to turn it on — then step thru all the settings to turn it off…but that’s not too bad.” By Glenn.

“I bought this clock for my daughter after I had received a different projection clock as a gift. My daughter really likes the on-ceiling display of the clock. The only drawbacks: the projection device does not swivel left and right. That would help in positioning the on-ceiling display a little better. Also, you must set the projection clock separate from the regular clock-radio clock. Other than that, I would recommend.” By David Skawecki.

This clock looks good and has a nice feature set, but while it may make a nice travel clock (if your cell phone won’t do) it’s really not suitable for regular use.

* While the time is displayed in nice large numbers, the contrast is low and the display is hard to read in all but the brightest light. The display is set comparatively deep within the bezel and tends to chop off the right side of the last seconds digit, unless you view it fairly straight on. The date and temp are small, and can only be read from fairly close up.

* As others have noted, you can’t read the display if you are looking up at it, as when it’s on your bed’s headboard. You have to sit up a bit, or twist the clock.

* The clock is smaller than it may look from the picture, and the base is narrow. It’s much too easy to knock it over when pushing the backlight/snooze button.

* Unlike many alarm clocks, there’s no button to push to turn off the alarm and leave it armed for tomorrow: You have to fiddle with a small slide switch each and every night and each every morning. By Jon Shemitz.

Maybe I have a different version of this clock than other reviewers BUT
- you CAN change the volume, the buttons are on the back and there are three settings
- you CAN change the night light from single to multi so you don’t have to have a disco show
- yes, there are only three sleep sounds but they last 15 minutes, not 5. Granted they are not the best, but this clock was really not made for that and would probably do best by eliminating that feature
until it is fine tuned.
- you have to speak the commands exactly as directed or you will get errors. For example, you have to say “hello Moshi” and then “set alarm” NOT “set the alarm” or it will not understand the command and do nothing.
- I would like the option of setting the nightlight to a preferred color however.
- the nightlight colors are a little too bright, but gorgeous!
- if you don’t have the nightlight on in the dark, you can’t see the clock. How could this have been overlooked when making this clock?
- It is made of plastic but I don’t think it looks cheap. I have never had a glass alarm clock before so why should this one be different?
- it is made in such a way that if you have cats, like I do, walking around your nightstand they cannot change the settings or turn your radio on jolting you awake. This is priceless to me!

You do not have to listen to a full explanation every time you set it unless you pause too long after saying giving a command. If you wait too long, it will give you an explanation. One in a while it will confuse a command or a time set but it is rare for me. In fact, I make far more errors on clocks I have had to manually set than this clock has.

If you plug it in the wall, the unit operates by voice command but the alarm will shut off by touch or voice. If you install batteries, you can operate everything manually from the back buttons but it is not practical because they are very small. You can turn the alarm clock off by touch regardless if it running on batteries or is plugged in.

Do I think there is room for improvement? Of course!

Is it worth the $49.95? For me it was!

If you live in a different time zone there is one simple Time Zone adjustment to make and you will never see the dreaded flashing 12:00 display again.

It will automatically reset itself every time you have a power interruption, and not just the time but your wake-up times as well. Daylight Saving Time and Leap Year adjustments are also done automatically through the year 2099.

1. This is simple high tech clock gizmo. That responds to several commands listed in back of the clock. It is a lot of fun. It is very easy to set up except for the date. That needs to be done manually. Once corrected. Now it is just fun. When you want to know the time in the night say Hello Moshi it responds say a command please, Time and it is clear and precise. Volume should have a control. Loud for me. Otherwise it is a great gizmo. By Andrea M.

2. First let me say I bought this as a gift for my husband who hates to fiddle with small buttons to set the alarm. I figured a clock that he could talk to would be great. Out of the box everyone, including my husband and especially the kids LOVED it. “Hello Moshi!!” was the new catch phrase at our house. Pretty easy to set although there was a time or two when it misunderstood the time that was said. This is what my husband hates….without the night light on….at night you can’t read the clock. Night light either is solid blue or rotating through several colors. White would be a nice alternative. It doesn’t bother me as the clock isn’t on my side of the bed but my husband finds it to be a bit too bright and the rotating colors kept him up so we set it to blue. We have oversized furniture so like another reviewer said…if it is at eye level or higher the numbers are hard to read – had to prop the one side up to get a better angle. Secondly, although there is a volume control, setting it to low still seems WAY TOO LOUD in the quite of the night or early morning. We are a family that gets up naturally without an alarm but wanted one for those rare occations when we need to get up earlier than usual. Me trying to wisper “hello Moshi” so it can hear me, having it respond with a loud “Command Please” and having to hope it understands me saying “shut alarm off” wakes up everyone including my three kids across the hall!!! Finding we have to fiddle with the little alarm button on the back to shut off the alarm as it doesn’t understand the voice command. Bottom line….a fun gadget but we will using it as a fun clock in another room of the house rather than a bedroom alarm. By D.L.D Donna
